About Us

Bringing a new feel to Phoenix barbershops.

The Local Barber and Shop opened in 2015 with a straightforward purpose: deliver traditional barbershop craft at the highest level, at every chair, in every location, every time.

The story

Phoenix has no shortage of places to get a haircut. What was missing was a shop that treated the cut as a craft rather than a transaction — somewhere that still believed in hot towels, straight razors, and taking the time to get it right.

The Local Barber and Shop set out to fill that gap. Established in 2015, the shop built its name on precision and consistency. The standard they set from the beginning: it doesn't matter which barber you sit with, you walk out looking sharp.

That reputation grew. What began in one location now spans three Phoenix neighborhoods — Uptown on 7th Street, Roosevelt Row, and Downtown on Central Avenue. Each shop carries the same level of craft that earned a 4.9-star rating across nearly 700 Google reviews.

The approach hasn't changed. Traditional technique, genuine attention, walk-ins welcome every day the doors are open.

What we stand for

Traditional craft

Hot towels, straight razors, steam facials — techniques that have worked for generations because they genuinely work. Every service at The Local is done the right way, not the fast way.

Consistent quality

Regardless of who's cutting your hair, you know you're going to get a quality cut. That isn't a promise — it's what clients say, and it's the standard every chair is held to.

Three Phoenix locations

Uptown, Roosevelt Row, Downtown — wherever you are in the city, there's a Local nearby. All three offer online booking and walk-ins on every day the shop is open.

The service

What a proper haircut actually looks like

A traditional haircut at The Local isn't a 10-minute assembly line. It's a cut, a style, a hot towel, hot lather, and a straight razor cleanup around the ears and back of the neck — the details that separate a good cut from a great one.

  • Traditional Haircut — cut, style, hot towel, hot lather, straight razor finish around ears and neck
  • Straight Razor Shave — hot steam towel, hot lather, two-pass shave with and against the grain, cool towel close
  • Beard Trim — precision trim with hot towels, razor lines on the cheek line only
  • Barber Steam Facial — steam towel, facial wash, exfoliating scrub, light facial massage

"Popped in for a quick haircut while in town for 24 hours, and I'm glad I did. Scotty was awesome! Best cut that I've had in years, great conversations, such an awesome guy. Going to have to plan a trip back to Phoenix just to see him again!"

"I've been going to Local Barber for 3 years now and have been with Scotty for the last 2. I used to be a 'slap the guard on and run it all over' haircut person and Scotty has helped me go from boring to stylish every time. Local Barber made it easy on me."

★★★★★
"I was a walk-in. He did a great job and we had great old time barber shop talk. Thanks again."
